Cincinnati Museum Center has something for everyone this Memorial Day
Museum Center offers three-days of activities to celebrate the holiday

CINCINNATI, OH- Cincinnati Museum Center is offering three days of themed programming to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday for families, veterans and history enthusiasts from Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30.

See WWI artifacts from our collection, including pieces belonging to Lt. John Pollock Childe, on display in our Cincinnati History Museum. Learn about Cincinnati’s contributions on the home front during WWII, hop aboard a restored 1940’s streetcar and see an original Army-Navy “E” flag from the Cincinnati Milacron Company in Cincinnati Goes to War. Tour Union Terminal with our free Rotunda tours on Saturday and Sunday and remember the nearly 20,000 visitors that visited the station daily during WWII. You can even see the tracks still used today from Tower A, the terminal’s former control tower.

Stop by our Duke Energy Children’s Museum and travel back in time with Happen Inc. and Harry the Historian with American History Through Art on Saturday and Monday at 2:30 p.m.

Discover the hidden story of the female soldiers who were part of the first program in American history to send women into direct ground combat with the award-winning documentary, Lioness, playing in our Newsreel Theater. Showtimes are Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

Explore the often flawed cultural depictions of women in the military with Laura Browder, author of When Janey Comes Marching Home, on Saturday at 2 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public. The lecture is presented by our Insights Lecture Series, with support from the Cincinnati VA Medical Center’s “Year of Women Veterans” series presented by the Cincinnati Foundation for Biomedical Research and Education (CFBRE) and the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.

Veterans are welcomed to free health screenings, an opportunity to have their medical record established, and information about VA Healthcare and local healthcare facilities in the VA Medical Center’s Mobile Health Unit in our North Parking Lot. The unit is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An information fair featuring booths from the VA, Women’s Post 644, WIMSA, the Red Cross and other local organizations will be held in the Concourse on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

Museum Center is offering special discounts for veterans and their families with a valid ID. Active, retired or veteran military persons can receive one free All Museums Pass for their own use. Active, retired or veteran military immediate family can get $1 off an All Museums Pass, OMNIMAX ticket, or Combo ticket. Active, retired or veteran military and their immediate family (up to 4 people on one sale) also receive $4 off their ticket to our blockbuster exhibition, Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt. VA employees can also receive $1 off an All Museums Pass with a valid employee ID.
